This course is suitable for all abilities but must not be allergic to touching fish.


Fishing by the sea is a quiet and relaxing sport that requires listening, focus, stillness and patience. Listening to the sound of the waves, connecting with the natural environment and breathing in the fresh sea air are all things that contribute to our mental health. On this all-day course, you will be introduced to basic sea techniques and tackle, fish species, conservation and legislation, and signposting to how you might be able to continue with the sport. We will aim for catch and release method of fishing and all fishing kit will be supplied. N.B. Please bring wet/hot weather gear, suitable shoes or wetsuit boots, hat and sunscreen, lunch and water bottle, and a folding stool if standing for long periods would be difficult.

All sessions meeting 10:15am at: Barnstaple Train Station/10:30 at Barnstaple Bus Station for travel as a group to fishing venues on the North Devon coast.
