This course is for anyone with experience of mental health issues, their friends, family or supporters wanting to learn more about POWER and the skills that can help regulate emotions. For further information about this course, our tutors would gladly get in touch to reply to your queries.
This three-part course covers skills that can help you recognise and step back from difficult thoughts and emotions, and to find more helpful ways to respond to them. Two full-day sessions (Sessions 1 and 2) include a theory part and a practical part. This structure will allow students to develop skills and put learning into practice. The course will cover the following themes: Mindfulness based on DBT/RELAY teaching; emotion regulation; distress tolerance; compassionate mind; and a final POWER drop-in for a chance to reflect on learning, what went well and what you might need to develop further. A final half-day session (Session 3) will offer you an opportunity to reflect and consolidate your experiences on the course and the learning that you have taken away to promote your wellbeing.
N.B. Lunch is not provided. Students are therefore kindly asked to bring their own packed lunch.
This course will meet fortnightly. Session 1 and 2 will meet Fridays on: 7th and 21st June Session 3 will meet Friday 5th July.
