This course is especially for mental health practitioners, friends, family and other supporters of people with lived experience of mental health issues.
This 3-week introductory course offers an overview of the key themes of recovery and explores how you can support the recovery of someone you care for, which in turn will allow you to look after yourself. Session 1: includes a presentation from the personal perspective of a person with personal experience of caring for someone with mental health issues. Activities and group discussion will provide opportunities to explore how we can put recovery into action in the lives of those we support. Session 2: will include a screening of Crazywise, personal stories of mental illness, with time for discussion and questions afterwards. Session 3: will include a screening of Open Dialogue, an alternative Finnish approach to healing psychosis, with time for discussion and questions afterwards.
This 3-week course will meet Wednesdays on: 7th, 14th and 21st August
