This course is for anyone who would like to feel more confident exploring their locality by bus and on foot.
There may be many reasons people find using public transport difficult and stressful. But whatever our anxieties, we can grow in confidence and ability when we practise using public transport and acquire a bit of know-how. Soon, the enjoyment and freedom of travel can outweigh our anxieties and going places by bus or train can become something to look forward to. This 3-week course aims to build your confidence around exploring Exeter and its surroundings by bus. As a group, we will take short trips to local destinations where we can enjoy easy walks, local history and wildlife. Journeys will include travel to Mincinglake Park, Topsham, and Bickleigh. The course will cover useful information about bus timetables, apps, journey planning and planners, tickets and prices, bus routes and more! Bus journeys will include time to enjoy short walks at our destinations to observe local wildlife and amenities. We therefore kindly ask students to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and time of year.
N.B. cost of bus travel is free to anyone without a bus pass.
