This course is for anyone who would like to feel more confident using public transport.
There may be many reasons why people can find using public transport difficult and stressful. This course aims to give a wide range of experience to develop know-how and confidence travelling. You may also find that enjoying the outdoors calms anxieties, lifts your mood and – by the end of the course – you feel inspired to travel independently afterwards. We will cover bus and train travel, tickets, timetables, time management and sources of information. There are five sessions, all beginning at Tiverton bus station. We will travel by bus and train to local places of interest (Exeter, Topsham, South Molton, Taunton and Bampton). The cost of travel, including trains, will be free to students. Tickets will be provided, but if you do have a bus pass, it will be useful to bring it along. We will enjoy easy walks, finding out about the history and wildlife of the area – so please have suitable clothing, footwear and some money to buy a snack and/or hot drink or bring sandwiches. You can attend one session or all five. The sessions will be from 10:30 until 16:30 with some variations to fit the timetable – students will be updated with the exact times for each session.
SESSION FIVE: Bus to Bampton. Meet at Tiverton bus station 11:00 for 11:15 bus to Bampton, Dartline bus 398. Return by bus and train to Tiverton by 4:30pm.
N.B. Cost of bus travel is FREE to anyone without a bus pass. Please wear suitable clothing for the weather and bring a packed lunch and money to buy a hot drink/snacks.
