This course is for anybody who wants to explore the topic in theory and practice.
On this 4-week course you will have opportunities to experience your body in wholesome new ways that potentially could challenge and redefine and existing, possibly negative thoughts and feelings about body and touch. The aim is to work towards developing a relationship with your body that is more self-aware, accepting, appreciative and compassionate. We will include gentle movement, body mapping, mindfulness practices and self-massage (head, face, neck, hand). During the course, there will be opportunities to give and receive safe touch in pairs or as a group, for example: tapping each other’s back, by giving or receiving a gentle hand or foot massage, or simply leaning against another person. The course will be facilitated to enable students to discuss personal boundaries of what is, and what is not, acceptable touch. Each exercise will, of course, require your consent and the tutors would wish that you will decide for yourself which activity or exercise is right for you to take part in.
This 4-week course will meet Wednesdays on 26th September, 3rd, 10th and 17th October
