Tutors Sarah Johnson and Cindy Rapson

This course is for anyone who would like to explore beachcombing as an activity for wellbeing.

Beachcombing is a fascinating, healthy and affordable activity that involves searching beaches for shells, sea glass, pebbles and other collectables that wash ashore. Beachcombing can also offer a simple opportunity to achieve a sense of peace. The act of looking for something – that total absorption – gives our brains a rest from grief, anxiety and stress. Whether you are looking for beautiful shells or litter-picking, beachcombing helps us to focus, offers us a sense of purpose and is good for our overall well-being. During the session tutors will provide opportunities for you to make beach art, collect shells and drift wood, reflect on the remnants you find from the past, or collect plastic as part of a beach clean-up. N.B. Please wear suitable clothing for the weather, wetsuit shoes or sandals for walking along the beach, sun screen, water bottle and a packed lunch.

Meeting at: Foxholes Car Park 339 Queens Drive Exmouth EX8 2DB
